The Nashville Film Festival (NashFilm) celebrates innovation, music and the many voices of the human spirit through the art of film. Throughout the year, NashFilm delivers unique programs to engage, connect and strengthen Nashville’s film and music community: Film, Screenwriting, and Pitch Competitions; the Creators Conference; Film Education Program; Outdoor Movie Series; Living Reel Initiative and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some of our year-round programs include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Film Education Program:\u00a0 <\/strong>Designed with the goal of fostering media literacy and greater cultural understanding among local middle and high school students, the Nashville Film Festival Education Program brings together filmmakers, educators, and students to engage in meaningful dialogue that explores the art of cinematic storytelling and considers how films can acknowledge, embrace and support diverse voices, perspectives, and experiences. In partnership with Nashville Metro Public Schools, NashFilm Education Screenings provide students with the opportunity to see independent films and engage in discussions with the filmmakers at no cost to the schools, teachers, or students. We believe that film is a powerful teaching tool and can help students to think critically, become active participants in discussions that relate back to identity, community and cross-cultural understanding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

Outdoor Movies – Movies in the Park<\/strong>: NashFilm produces and presents several outdoor screenings throughout the year, bringing together diverse members of the Nashville community to share in the enjoyment of some of the world’s most popular fan-favorite films. A highlight of every summer for the last 28 years, the Movies in the Park series is held in Elmington Park in partnership with the Nashville Scene and is free to the public. In 2024, Movies in the Park screenings included THE SUPER MARIO BROS. MOVIE and BARBIE. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

Living Reel Initiative<\/strong>: The Living Reel Initiative serves at-risk teens in an effort to improve their lives through film and music. NashFilm partners with professional filmmakers and musicians to help the teens learn to work together as a team, while expressing their thoughts and experiences through the process of composing and recording an original song, resulting in the creation of a short film. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n
